Search for gunman underway in I-77 drive-by shooting

Police are searching for a gunman after a car with three people inside was shot at on Interstate 77 early Wednesday.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on I-77 north near Clanton Road. Officials said three people were inside a Mercury when a car pulled up beside them and fired five shots.

The driver of the Mercury then pulled into the Marathon gas station on Clanton Road.

One woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to her hand, but police said the injuries were not from a gunshot. The other two people inside the car were not injured.

Police do not have a description of the shooter or the other car involved.
