A worker at a stone fabricators plant in Charlotte was killed Wednesday by a piece of falling machinery, according to police.

The incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. at World Stone Fabricators on the 2300 block of Distribution Street in southwest Charlotte.

Officials have not released many details about the accident, but said a worker was crushed by machinery at the plant. The worker's name has not been released.

According to its website, World Stone Fabricators provides natural and engineered stones for home remodeling.

Investigators have not said what may have led to the incident or if any other injuries were reported.
