Person struck, killed by train in Gaston County

CRAMERTON, NC (WBTV) - One person was killed when they were struck by a train in Gaston County Monday.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on the train tracks at Market Street and Cramerton Road in Cramerton. Officials have not released many details, but did confirm that one person was killed.

WBTV was at the scene where the train was stopped on the tracks, which run under the roadway. Multiple emergency crews responded to the area.

The victim's name has not been released.

Investigators have not said why the victim may have been on the tracks.
