Ardrey Kell High
NG fundraiser: Through March 12 the MCROTC is collecting donations for its annual Thank You to The Military event. Donations will be used to purchase and assemble meals for local National Guard families in need of assistance. The cadets will assemble the meals at Switchin’ Kitchens.
DECA award: Jonese Austin qualified as a state finalist at a recent DECA conference. Jonese will represent the state of North Carolina at the International Career Development Conference this spring.
Rescheduled show: The school’s performances of “Guys and Dolls” have been rescheduled for the following dates: 7 p.m. March 20; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 21; and 2 p.m. March 22.
Community House Middle
Registration night: The school will hold a seventh- and eighth-grade registration night March 19 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Information will be provided to parents. Students do not need to attend.
Palisades Park Elementary
Golf fundraiser: The school will hold its first annual golf tournament fundraiser May 1 at Palisades Country Club.
Proceeds will support the school’s STEM education program. Individual golfer: $120. Foursome: $480. Call Ahmer Qasim at 901-553-8856 for information about sponsorships. Registration deadline April 17.
Polo Ridge Elementary
Kindergarten registration: Registration is underway for rising kindergarten students. The school will hold a Beginners Night at 5:30 p.m. April 23. Children will visit classrooms and teachers while parents attend an informational session.
Charlotte Catholic High
National Merit: The following seniors have been selected as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program: Tyler Caponigro, Elliot Chambers, Polly Jasper, Faith Kressner, Ian Miller, Haley Schilly and Claire Wood.
Service award: Alexandra Buck has been honored with a President’s Volunteer Service Award by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Obama. Alexandra received the distinction for her exemplary volunteer service.
AATG exam: The following students received outstanding scores on the annual American Association of Teachers of German National German Exam:
▪ Gold: Maddie Kern, Linh Mai, Hayley Russell and Brendan McDonough.
▪ Silver: Troy Smith, Kyle Box, Kieran Mahoney and Ravshan Muminov.
▪ Bronze: Hamilton Dulin, Patrick Little and Benton Lietz.
The National German Exam is administered yearly to high school students in different levels of German.
