Road work

New traffic pattern

As work progresses to widen South Trade Street in Matthews, crews have implemented a new pattern along the project limits.

Construction started in January 2015 to widen the roadway from east of Fullwood Lane to west of Chaphyn Lane just before the culvert at Four Mile Creek. Improvements include widening South Trade Street, installing curbs and gutters, grading, drainage and traffic signals. The area also includes a 1,300-foot section of Fullwood Lane heading south to the intersections with Trade Street, as well as construction of a one-way section of Chaphyn Lane.

The Matthews Police Department will monitor the traffic flow as motorists get accustomed to the new pattern. Details: www.matthewsnc.org.
