New Mint Hill police chief is on the job

Today is the second day on the job for Mint Hill's new Police Chief Tim Ledford.

He wasn't supposed to start until after Labor Day, but says he couldn't wait to begin his new job.

The 53-year-old Ledford served in the police department in King, North Carolina, for 20 years. He served five years as chief before coming to Mint Hill.

Ledford will be the second chief to lead Mint Hill's five-year-old department.

He replaces former chief Brian Barnhardt who resigned last December.
