Club Notes

Members of the Nation Ford Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution recently attended the S.C. State Conference in Columbia.

The DAR chapter based in Fort Mill was presented with the Rebecca Pickens Bacon Membership Award by the S.C. Society DAR. The engraved silver bowl is a traveling award presented annually to the S.C. chapter with the most new members.

The Lions Club was awarded 1st place in the 2007-08 District Newsletter Contest for a club with over 50 members.

The award was presented during the S.C. District 32-D Cabinet Meeting July 28 in Blythewood.

The Tega Cay Lions Club is calling its campaign to “pack the backpacks” for the Fort Mill Care Center a success.

Donations doubled from 2007, with over 11,000 sheets of paper, 1,300 pencils and pens, over 400 crayons, and hundreds of erasers, sharpeners, protractors, scissors, binders, rulers and other items. Donations can still be made at the Fort Mill Care Center.

A new 4-H Horse Club will meet 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Clemson Extension office, 120 N. Congress St., York. The first meeting will be Thursday.

The club will participate in county and state 4-H presentations, camping trips, the Fall Live Stock Show, State 4-H Horse Show, hippology, Horse Bowl and horse judging, community service projects and monthly arena sessions.

Tori Campbell and Mark McCarter will lead the club.

The Star, Strip and Snips 4-H Horse Club is seeking new members for the fall. This is an established 4-H horse club led by Mickey and Jamey Barnett. The club focuses on showing at state 4-H horse events, including horse judging, county and state horse shows and hippology. The club meets 7 p.m. on the fourth Thursday and various arena sessions.

Other 4-H clubs are accepting new members this fall: environmental clubs, horse clubs, livestock clubs with goats, sheep and beef and dairy cows, pet care clubs, shooting sports club and foods classes.
