A 17-year-old driver from Fort Mill was killed late Monday night in a single-vehicle wreck in York County, the S.C. Highway Patrol has reported.
The wreck happened about 10 p.m. on Williams Road, about a half-mile east of Fort Mill, not far from S.C. 160. According to trooper, the driver was northbound on Williams Road when he apparently lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, and hit a power pole.

The victim, identified as Travis Nell, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.
The Rock Hill Herald is reporting that a passenger in the vehicle was taken by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center, but there is no word on the condition of that person. Lance Cpl. Jeff Gaskin of the S.C. Highway Patrol also told the Rock Hill Herald that speed is considered to be a factor in the crash.
The collision knocked down power lines, and more than 1,000 Duke Energy customers lost power. The electricity service was restored within a few hours.
