Tega Cay teen enjoys week at Victory Junction

Sara Oxenfeld, 15, of Tega Cay went to the Victory Junction Gang Camp this summer and she'll proudly tell you about her hot air balloon ride and the archery she enjoyed that week.

The camp in Randelman, N.C., was started by Kyle and Pattie Petty for kids with serious medical conditions. Sara has epilepsy.

On Sept. 8, Tega Cay Fire Department volunteers presented a donation in Sara's honor to Dy English, a long-time camp volunteer. Sara's father, Bryan Oxenfeld, and her brother, John, are fire department volunteers.

Top Lions

When Lou Girolami joined the River Hills Lions Club, he jumped right in to sell Christmas trees last year. He also worked on its directory and helped with the golf tournament. Now, he has been named New Lion of the Year.

Club member Pat Kirby was named Lion of the Year for 14 years of service to club philanthropic causes. Fellow Lions say Pat is “invaluable.” Watch for these two selling Christmas trees again this year.
