Don't you love this weather? The sun is out and it's not too hot or humid, so the idea of sharing a meal outside with friends is sometimes just what the doctor ordered. I met three friends who were doing just that at Quail Corners Shopping Center on Park Road. Jennifer Purrazzella, 25, Margaret Parker, 26, and Tracy Cummins, 26, were eating lunch at an outside table and discussing everything from politics to carbonated soft drinks. (How do you refer to soft drinks? The answer: depends on where you're from.)
The young women all work for Cato Corp. Purrazzella, a Charlottean, graduated from Myers Park High School and The Art Institute. Parker, from upstate New York near Buffalo, graduated from Fredonia State in New York majoring in business marketing. She moved here four years ago to be near her sister, who has since moved back to New York. Cummins, also from Charlotte, graduated from Providence High School and UNC Charlotte.
The perfect candidate
The presidential and vice-presidential debates are a lively topic for discussion, and these young women are following them closely. Cummins has made charts and graphs and is very involved with watching how the race to the White House is unfolding. “I've been interested in voting and elections since I reached the age I could vote,” she said. Purrazzella and Parker noted that it's too bad you cannot take a piece of each candidate and make the perfect one. Cummins sighed and added, “You can't do that with men, either.” We all laughed and I left them to continue enjoying their day.
