A Union County group is organizing a poker run to raise money for Stallings Police officer Tahitiana Munoz's young brother, who has osteosarcoma cancer.

The event, called “Have a Heart for Samy,” will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8. Registration opens at 9 a.m. at Iron Horse Motorcycles, 1600 W. Roosevelt Blvd. in Monroe. The poker run will end at Estridge Motorsports, 215 Ames St. in Matthews.

All money raised will help defray medical costs for 10-year-old Samy Munoz. Samy attended Wingate Elementary, but cannot go to school now because of frequent doctor visits and treatments.

Last year's poker run benefited Stallings Police Sgt. Mike Kane, who was seriously injured when a suspect beat him in the head.

Each poker hand costs $10, and one extra card may be purchased at the last stop for $5.
