Kids play, learn hands-on at museum

Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Activities: Kidzu Children's museum is a hands-on experience for children to come together with care givers and learn through play. While at the museum, children will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as weekly programs, story time and arts and crafts. Children will be able to explore interactive areas like the garden-to-table market area that boasts a garden, farmers market and kitchen. The nonprofit organization also offers interactive stations such as a construction zone where children can build structures and a machine called the Gravitron where kids can explore how gravity works while enhancing problem-solving skills. Cost: Admission for the day costs $5 per person for adults and for children over 24 months of age. Admission is $2 for children 12-23 months. Members and children 11 months and under are admitted free. Admission on Sundays is free.

Target Audience: All ages are welcome, but Kidzu is geared to children ages 0 through 8.

Directions: I-85 N. toward Greensboro. Slight right at I-85 BUS N./U.S.-29 N./U.S.-70 E. (signs for I-40 BUS/Greensboro). Continue onto I-40 E. Take the exit toward N.C. 86 S./Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Turn right at N.C. 86 S./Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Slight left at North Columbia Street. Take the second left onto East Franklin Street.
