Activities: Visitors to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville will be able to witness an array of more than 100,000 tulips bloom across the 8,000-acre property. Biltmore's Festival of Flowers celebrates its 26th year from April 2 to May 15. The festival highlights the grandeur of George Vanderbilt's estate, as well as the landscape design of Frederick Law Olmstead. The gardens, Olmstead's final project, are in their 121st year. Visitors at the house will be received at the entrance by an outstretched lawn of white, purple, pink, yellow and red tulips. Tulips in the Walled Garden will boast hues of purple, orange, yellow and white. Midway through the festival, the Walled Garden will take on shades of lavender of alyssum, orange snapdragons, poppies, dianthus and digitalis for a multi-color display. This year, the Festival of Flowers coincides with the estate's annual Easter Egg Hunt April 24. Egg hunts will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the front lawn of the Biltmore House. Registration begins two hours before each hunt, and closes 15 minutes before each hunt. The event will also include children's music and stories, magic shows, games and photos with the Easter Rabbit. Other activities will include music at the Barn and on the Village Green, as well as a grape stomp at the winery from 2-5 p.m.
