The high-scoring Weddington boys' lacrosse team has positioned itself as the leader in the Southern Carolina Conference.
Led by senior Brad Burnham, the Warriors are scoring goals at an amazing pace, and they are capable of shutting down opponents.
Weddington has topped double figures in scoring each game except for a loss to Mallard Creek in mid April when they were held to five goals.
The Warriors have outscored their opponents by 30 goals overall. That number would be much greater if not for the Mallard Creek and Schaem North games, which were both double figure losses.

When things are going well, like against Cuthbertson in a 23-4 win on April 13, Weddington is one of the best teams in the state, with enough offense to beat any of their opponents.
The offense usually runs through Burnham, the coaches son and one of the leading scorers in the Carolinas, who leads the Warriors with 34 goals and 20 assists.
However, he does have help.
Junior Connor Kennedy is second on the team with 22 goals and 12 assists. Jordan Burtz, Collin Whitestone, Justin Phifer, Cameron Roten, RJ Nappi and Stephen Wierzbicki have all scored at least five goals and are major contributors. They also make it difficult for opposing defenses to key on Burnham or Kennedy. If the Warriors can continue to average 15 goals a game and get an adequate defensive effort, they should be the favorites to win their conference and state titles.
