Lunch balances: Lunch balances held by any CMS students will roll into next school year, even if they transfer to a difference CMS school. If a graduated student has a balance of more than $5, you may request a refund or have it transferred to another sibling within CMS. Contact the Child Nutrition Department at 980-343-6041.

Carnegie Hall: The concert choir and honors women chamber choir were invited to perform at Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
NASA commemoration: Astronomy students are participating in a NASA commemoration of the final launches of the American space shuttle program, which involves astronauts transporting digital photographs of interested persons onboard the last shuttle missions. Jim McLeod, upper school biology and astronomy teacher, has uploaded pictures of both of his astronomy classes so they can "fly digitally" on the final shuttle mission. The launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis from the John F. Kennedy Space Center.
Carnegie Hall: The chamber choir, women's choir and men's choir have been invited to perform at Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
East Mecklenburg High
Immunizations and exams: Resources for parents to prepare students for required back-to-school immunizations and physical exams is now on the East Meck homepage. Deadline for completed records for the 2011-12 school year is Sept. 23. Details: schools.cms.k12.nc.us/eastmecklenburgHS.
South Mecklenburg High
WISE award: The Charlotte Women in Information Science and Engineering organization recently announced that graduate Kristen Cotner is the 2011 recipient of the Kasie Capling Memorial Scholarship. Cotner will attend MIT in the fall in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in engineering. She will receive $2,000.
Parking applications: Applications for 2011-12 school year will be accepted in the office noon-2 p.m. June 27 and July 16, with pickup dates noon-2 p.m. Aug. 9, 10 and 23. Applications will also be accepted Aug. 9 and 10 with permit pickup Aug. 23. A payment of $30 cash or check payable to South Mecklenburg H.S. is required at time of application.
Final report cards: Report cards will be mailed home from the Education Center approximately June 20.
Booster Club: The athletic booster club will hold a meeting June 27. Coaches and the executive committee should meet at 5:45 p.m. The general meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the media center.
eCybermission: The sixth- and eighth-grade eCybermission teams were spotlighted on the eCybermission blog June 13 and 14. eCybermission is a free, Web-based science, technology, engineering and math competition for students in sixth through ninth grade. Students on both teams have each won $3,000 in U.S. EE Savings Bonds, a certificate of recognition from the U.S. Army and an expenses-paid trip to the National Judging and Educational Event in Washington, D.C., in June to present final projects and compete for an additional $5,000 in bonds.
