Knights runners lead pack

Boys' track Coach of the Year: Brian Zelk, Ardrey Kell. Zelk started the Ardrey Kell program from scratch five years ago when the school opened. Since then, the Knights have established themselves as one of the best programs in the Charlotte area and state. Zelk led the boys to a third straight Southwestern 4A title and the girls' team to a second straight SW4A title.

The boys' team also finished ninth at the regional meet and 24th at states.

Ardrey Kell also got an individual state championship from their 4 x800-meter relay squad that included Raphael Rojas, Thomas McLean, Nick Kapur and Christian White.

Boys' track Player of the Year: Raphael Rojas, Ardrey Kell. Raphael Rojas wanted to win a state championship before he finished his time at Ardrey Kell. After establishing himself for the last four years on the track for the Knights, Rojas finally got his state title in the 4x800 relay in the final meet of his high school career.

While Rojas is done at Ardrey Kell, he will continue his track career in college at Appalachian State.
