Summer Teacher Conference: Hundreds of teachers in CMS taught students at camp, observed master educators in action and learned how they can improve urban education as part of the 2011 Summer Teacher Conference June 20-23. At Myers Park Traditional, about 100 educators attended the Urban Education Symposium, where they explored social justice and how complex issues affect classrooms, schools and families.

Scott Clark Toyota

Ghost Walk: Scott Clark Toyota will hold its second 3-D Ghost Walk in October to raise funds for local elementary school PTAs. For $5, children will gain entry to the ghost walk, receive a bag of candy, hot dog and a drink. Last year, more than $12,000 was raised. South Mecklenburg High

Student of Excellence: John Chamberlain recently graduated from South Mecklenburg, where he was 15th in his class. He will attend the U.S. Naval Academy in the fall. While at South Meck, Chamberlain was a linebacker who was named as the school's defensive MVP. He also served as president of the chorus. Chamberlain plans to pursue a career in the military after college.

Quail Hollow Middle

New Principal: Rachael Neill was named principal at Quail Hollow Middle at the June 28 meeting of the CMS Board of Education.

Ardrey Kell High

Final transcripts: Final transcripts have been sent to colleges/universities. Please allow a couple of weeks for it to be reflected on your online student accounts.

Knight Camp: Knight Camp for rising freshmen will be held 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Please check the website as the date gets closer for more information.
