Ballantyne

School update: The next meeting of the Ballantyne Breakfast Club is 9 a.m. Aug. 13 at the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge, 10000 Ballantyne Commons Parkway. The meeting will provide information on the county budget and the start of the new school year. Guest speakers include Jennifer Roberts, chairwoman of the Mecklenburg County Commission, school board members, Hugh Hattabaugh, interim superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, along with the area assistant superintendant.

Matthews

Theater needs you: Matthews Playhouse seeks drama, music and dance instructors to teach drama and musical theater classes to children 5-17 years old. Ballantyne

Swimmers dive in: Ballantyne Country Club's swim team, the Barracudas, held their second annual sno-cone fundraiser to benefit BCC Rally, a local nonprofit that supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure. During the Barracudas' biggest swim meet of the year against Olde Georgetowne, the team raised $400. BCC Rally will hold its Pink Harvest Festival Family Day in September.
