Atria MerryWood: Atria MerryWood off Park Road, a senior living center, collected and donated five large boxes of school supplies to Sedgefield Elementary in September.

Roasting Company: The Roasting Company restaurant on Montford Drive recently donated $2,218 to The Harvest Center to help hungry people throughout Charlotte. The funds came from a campaign the week of June 19 in which 20 percent of dinner sales were set aside.

Mitochondrial Disease Foundation

Walkathon: The Carolina Foothills Chapter of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation will hold its second annual Energy for Life Walkathon 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at Freedom Park. Registration will open 8:30 a.m. Proceeds will promote research and education for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of mitochondrial disorders. Shepherd's Center East

Flu Shot Clinic: Shepherd's Center East and Maxim Healthcare are offering a pneumonia and flu-shot clinic 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 13 at the fellowship hall at Central United Methodist Church, 6030 Albemarle Road. Appointments are encouraged. Call 704-338-1511. Without insurance, a flu shot will cost $30 and a pneumonia shot $65.

Craft Bazaar: Shepherd's Center East will have its annual craft bazaar 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 13 at Central UMC, 6030 Albemarle Road. Proceeds benefit the programs of Shepherd's Center East.

Special Olympics

Fundraiser: The Charlotte Speed Demons and Inner Peaks have teamed to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics North Carolina from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 15 at Inner Peaks Climbing Center, 9535 Monroe Road, Suite 170. The facility will be open to those making a minimum $10 donation. Participants will receive unlimited climbing, unlimited crate-stacking competitions, live music, food and more.
