A champagne dinner will be happening at Ruth's uptown location today. Hosted by Eric Hunter of Moet Hennessy, the dinner features a special menu paired with champagne selections. Highlights of the menu include a duck confit with creamy mustard sauce and toasted brioche served with Veuve Clicquot Rose and a grilled prime bistro filet with caramelized pearl onions and Bordeaux syrup, a Parmesan crisp and Veuve Clicquot "La Grande Dame," 1998. Reception begins at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7; price per person is $95. Reservations are required, 704-338-9444.

Ruth's Chris at SouthPark will host a Chimay dinner along with Jennifer Ewart of Tryon Distributing on Oct. 28 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Executive Chef Hunter Namen will pair his multicourse menu with Chimay's delicately brewed beers. A sampling from the night's menu includes mussels steamed with Andouille sausage, Cajun vegetables and grilled baguette served with Chimay Red, and braised short ribs with potato croquette and roasted vegetables served with Chimay Blue. Cost for the dinner is $50 per person; reservations, 704-556-1115.

The third annual Oyster Bash takes place Oct. 22 from 6-9 p.m. Enjoy unlimited oysters and wine for $95 per person. Vote on your favorite oyster and wine pairing to win a $100 gift card to your choice of Harper's Group restaurants. Proceeds from the event benefit Share Our Strength; call for reservations.

Sunday brunch is worth a look at Upstream: a seafood and raw bar, along with hand rolled sushi, an omelet station and freshly made tapas for $24.95 per person. Brunch is available on Sundays from 10:30-2:30 p.m.

On Oct. 20, Zink hosts a Dine Out for Books day to benefit Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. A portion of all proceeds will be used to buy materials and books for the library. Zink will feature a "Bookworm" cocktail and a special book-a-licious menu for the day.

The Liberty

Having a get together at your home this fall? The Liberty is serving a family-style pig roast for 10 for your next event. A whole roasted suckling pig with all the trimmings costs $28 per person or $280 plus tax and tip. A 14-hour, slow-roasted pig served with sides such as creamy macaroni and cheese, fresh vegetables and whipped Yukon Gold potatoes are included in the price. City Tavern

Like seafood? City Tavern has unveiled some new fall menu items. Eggplant stuffed and rolled with seafood and cheese then smothered with a roasted red pepper lobster sauce, served with four sautéed shrimp and lobster nachos: a five-ounce lobster tail diced and served on top of tri-color chips, topped with cheese and lobster queso. A Portobello mushroom cap stuffed with shrimp, scallops, crabmeat, crawfish and cheese is also new.
