Theater performances: Charlotte Christian's ACT 1 drama team will present a fall double-feature including "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Children of Eden." Charlotte Country Day
Honors band: Charlotte Country Day School sophomore Grant Steelman and freshmen Robert Haggart and Jonathan Vehaun have been selected to participate in the North Carolina Association of Independent School's Honors Band, based on their prior accomplishments in local, district and state ensembles.
Honors orchestra: Charlotte Country Day junior Alex Kim has been selected, by audition, for the N.C. All-State Honors Orchestra. He will perform with the orchestra Nov. 11-13 in Winston-Salem.

Myers Park High
Parent University: There will be a Parent University course 6:30-8 p.m. in the media center about real-world strategies that increase student achievement and decrease student discipline problems. Parents will gain knowledge on raising responsible, successful citizens.
Free concert: The Myers Park Marching Band will join the Myers Park Band Ensembles for a music concert 6:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in the auditorium of the Myers Park Campus, 2400 Colony Road.
Ghost walk: Oct. 27 will be Smithfield Night at Scott Clark Toyota City's 3-D Ghost Walk. Cost is $5 per child for entry to the ghost walk, a bag of candy, hot dog and a drink. Proceeds will benefit the PTA.
1986 class reunion: The 25th year reunion of Class of 1986 is being held 6:30-11:30 Oct. 22. Contact Monique Niederer Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org for reservations or information.
Loaves & Fishes: Valeriano Orthodontics is having a "Back to School" contest to benefit Loaves and Fishes and our local schools. Students and parents are asked to bring donations of nonperishable food items to the office, 7812 Fairview Road. At the end of the contest the school with the most points will be awarded a Smart Board or check for $2,500. The contest will run through Nov. 30.
Ghost walk: Scott Clark Toyota will hold its second 3-D Ghost Walk in October to raise funds for local elementary school's PTAs. For $5 children will gain entry to the ghost walk, receive a bag of candy, hot dog and a drink. Last year, more than $12,000 was raised for eight elementary schools. This year's goal is $100,000.
