D'Vine Wine Café

Ballantyne's D'Vine Wine has been named the recipient of Riedel's 2011 North Carolina Wine Restaurant of the Year. Riedel selects one restaurant in the state for this award each year. A look at fall events: On Nov. 10, learn how to blend a wine that suits your palate at the Blending Seminar. Cost is $25 per person, reservations are required. On Nov. 19 from 2-5 p.m., Holiday Super Taste is here. Five distributors, more than 40 wines and deals for wines plus a holiday dinner with turkey, ham, sides and desserts served in food shooters. On Nov. 4, Aurelio Montes of Montes Premium Wines hosts a wine dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m. Executive Chef Bob Kalish will pair his multicourse dinner with wines for $99 per person, tax and gratuity excluded. Samplings from the menu include a lobster chopped salad with sweet corn, pork belly with diver scallops, espresso-rubbed filet mignon with smoked tomato relish and poblano cream sauce and chocolate ancho chile strudel. The Palm

A Macallan Scotch Dinner is happening at SouthPark's Palm on Nov. 4. Executive Chef Colin Johnson has planned a three-course menu, paired with select Macallan scotches. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m., along with a selection of hors d'oeuvres. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. and includes a first course choice of oxtail barley soup or an autumn salad with arugula and poached pears and a second course choice of a 9-ounce filet mignon, cedar plank roasted Chilean sea bass or roasted rack of lamb plus dessert. The Ballantyne Resort

The Wine Society of Ballantyne meets on Nov. 5 from 6-8 p.m. Wine selections for Thanksgiving dinner will be served with appetizers for $25 per person.

Gallery Restaurant at the Ballantyne Resort will host Saturday tastings Nov. 12 and 26 beginning at 6 p.m. Complementing fruit, cheese and lavosh will be served alongside winter reds on Nov. 12, and South American wines on Nov. 26 for $20 per person.

Upcoming cooking classes in November: Fall Harvest Moon is the theme for Nov. 12. The class will highlight recipes for Thanksgiving. On Nov. 18: the Perfect Thanksgiving Feast with recipes for a perfect roast and sides. Nov. 12 class begins at 10 a.m. and lasts about two hours for $30; Nov. 18 class begins at 7 p.m. and covers three to four dishes you can taste for $45.
