Women of Achievement: YWCA Central Carolinas honored its 2011 Women of Achievement winners at a donor thank you event in October. They were honored for having demonstrated leadership in Charlotte by promoting social justice.
Party in Your PJs: Classroom Central is encouraging people to donate by holding drawings the next two Saturdays where donators can receive prizes including air travel, electronics and fine dining. When donating $50 or more , you will automatically be entered to win. The final two drawings will be Nov. 12 and Nov. 19. CCDS Kids Collect: Charlotte Country Day School's Oct. 19 canned food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank brought in 5,052 pounds of food. According to Second Harvest, the students provided the equivalent of 3,368 meals thanks to their collection.
Turkey Drive: David Weekly Homes is holding its fifth-annual Turkey Drive 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Charlotte Division Office, 11430 North Community House Road, Suite 275.
Vision Walk: The fifth annual 5K VisionWalk, hosted by the Foundation Fighting Blindness, will take place 10 a.m. Nov. 12 at Freedom Park, 1900 East Blvd. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The walkathon aims to raise $65,000 for research. Hearts for Hearing
Donations Needed: The Rotary Foundation is collecting hearing aids to help with the hearing needs in third world countries. Hearts for Hearing has frequently partnered with the Rotary Foundation, which will go to Puerta Plata in January 2012 to help children with hearing impairment. Donate still-functioning behind-the-ear hearing aids and all in-the-ear types through November. Donations can be made at Hearing Solution Center, 6201 Fairview Road, Suite 200.
