Restaurant news: Cupcake chain to open in SouthPark

Gigi's Cupcakes

Gigi's Cupcakes is coming to SouthPark's Sharon Corners in time for the holidays. Founded by Nashville's Gina Butler, Gigi's features freshly baked cupcakes for all occasions. Flavors change daily, and custom cupcakes for special events are available to order. The SouthPark location will be the first in Charlotte, and the chain's third in North Carolina. The cupcakery will be taking the space formerly occupied by Mephisto; they are hoping to open in December. Check their website for opening date details.

The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar

The Cowfish restaurant in SouthPark is attempting to "stuff the bus" this holiday season. The Cowfish bus is parked at the SouthPark mall food entrance between Dick's Sporting Goods and Macy's, and is waiting to be stuffed with donated toys throughout December. Restaurant patrons are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the bus when visiting Cowfish. Once the bus is full, it will be driven over to Toys for Tots. Anyone donating a toy will be entered to win a variety of prizes including dinner for four.
