Charlotte Country Day

In loving memory: The school community continues to mourn the loss of recent graduate Kathryn Currier, class of 2011, who died Dec. 8 at 18 after a short but serious illness. She was studying at Kenyon College in Ohio. A tribute to Currier recently was posted by the college at www. kenyon .edu /currier .

Crestdale Middle

Roundtable chat: There will be a monthly roundtable chat 5:30 p.m. today. This will allow open conversation between parents and Principal Rhonda Houston.

Winter dance: There will be a winter dance concert 6:30 p.m. Jan. 5 in the gymnasium.

Jay M. Robinson Middle

Spelling champ: Eighth-grade student Olivia Lane was the spelling bee winner at Jay M. Robinson Middle on Dec. 16. She will represent her school at the East Zone Spelling Bee on Jan. 4.

Polo Ridge Elementary

Kate's skate: Polo Ridge night at Kate's Skate will be held Jan. 6. Make sure to mention you are with Polo Ridge for a portion of the proceeds to go toward the school.

Providence Day

Spirit of giving: Thirty-two PDS Lower School students, two Middle School students and 12 Extended Day teachers participated in Extended Day's annual "Spirit of Giving: Children Helping Children" from Dec. 19-23.

South Charlotte Middle

Giving back: The students and their families adopted 32 angles throught the Salvation Army's "Adopt an Angel" program, raising nearly $7,000. On Dec. 12, students and teachers shopped for their angels.
