Nationally-known chain Pottery Barn Kids is best recognized for their simple yet stated style, decor, gifts and more. More recently, PBK has begun offering classes for both parents and children. On Jan. 21, they're teaming up with National Geographic to bring in an educational experience with hands-on activities, quizzes, music and more. Little Explorers ages 3 and older can enjoy exploring bugs, birds and maps while on a quest to earn a badge for their efforts. Upcoming events will be held on Feb. 18 and March 24; kids who attend all three events will earn a special prize. There is no charge for the events, which begin at 10 a.m. on respective dates.

Myers Park art provider Shain Gallery is now exhibiting commonly themed "Say Goodbye" paintings by gallery artists with reference to the rarity and ephemeral nature of the world as we know it. Local artists including Jay Zinn, a minister by day and artist by night; Donald Peeler, a retired product designer; and William Jameson, a full-time artist of 30 years, have their work showcased, all which refer to how precious nature is and how quickly it can change.
