Blood drive: The American Red Cross will host a blood drive in Ballantyne Corporate Park on 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Feb. 1. The drive will be in the Bissell Training Room in Suite 300 of the Chandler Building, 13860 Ballantyne Corporate Place. All donors will be treated to a movie during their donation. 70th anniversary: Boy Scout Troop 39, sponsored by Matthews United Methodist Church, is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a special dinner - $8 per person - and program 6-9 p.m. Jan. 28 at Belk Scout Camp. Volunteers needed: People interested in learning more about the missions and goals of the Salvation Army's Center of Hope are invited to attend a spaghetti luncheon at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church at 12:15 p.m. Jan. 29, immediately following the church's 11 a.m. worship service.
Maj. Todd Hawks of the Salvation Army will talk about Center of Hope, the women and children's homeless shelter.
SMPC provides the food and serves both a monthly spaghetti meal and breakfast at Center of Hope.
