Theatre awards: The Charlotte Christian ACT 1 drama students won honors at the Christians in Theatre Arts Secondary Theatre Festival in Greenville, S.C. Senior Brewington Rosenblatt won for the Contrasting Monologues and Shakespeare Monologue categories; Chad Damon and Caroline Kasay won for Duo Musical Theatre; Caroline Kasay placed second and Morgan Gray placed third for Solo Musical Theatre.

College fair: The Charlotte National College Fair is noon-4 p.m., March 11 at The Park (formerly the Charlotte Merchandise Mart), Independence Hall, 2500 East Independence Blvd. Admission is free, parking is $6. Books for good: Fourth-graders in Mrs. Little and Mrs. Turnbull's class traveled to Berryhill Elementary to continue a longstanding Charlotte Country Day/Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools partnership to provide gently used books to high-needs schools
Haiti trip: Covenant Day sent a team of volunteers to Haiti Feb. 18-25 including four faculty members, one parent, 12 students and one alumna.

Memory Project: Ten students from East Mecklenburg volunteered to participate in a special art assignment called the Memory Project, where they will paint portraits of orphans across the world. The high-schoolers' portraits will be sent as gifts to the orphans.
