Ardrey Kell

Senior service hours: Seniors who need to finish their Knights-In-Action community service hours to be eligible to receive their community service graduation cord must turn in their final hours by April 26. Hours will not be accepted after that, no exceptions.

Teacher appreciation: Ardrey Kell will have teacher appreciation week in May and hopes to give each teacher and staff a $10 gift card. If you are able to donate a gift card to restaurants, movies, gas stations, stores and so on, they can be sent in any time to the front office in an envelope marked "Hospitality."

Dessert festival: The Ardrey Kell World Languages Department is hosting the International Dessert Festival 5-7:30 p.m. March 9 at the school. Desserts, cultural displays and a variety show will be featured. Tickets are $5.

Charlotte Christian

Shakespeare competition: At the annual Shakespeare competition held at Wingate University Feb. 28, Brewington Rosenblatt from Charlotte Christian received an honorable mention in the high school division.

Scholastic awards: Three Charlotte Christian juniors earned writing awards in the 2012 Mid-Carolina Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. Morgan McManus won a Gold Key for her personal essay/memoir and a Silver Key for a short story. Gigi Bailey won a Silver Key for two poems. Michael Keener received an honorable mention for a short story.

Charlotte Country Day

Scholastic awards: Charlotte Country Day had several winners in the Mid-Carolina Region Scholastic Art Competition. Gold winners were Elizabeth Brown, Thomas Cambell, Elizabeth Hunter, Alicia Ide, Kiyun Kim and Kerchuan Soong. These winners have their art exhibited in the galleries at Spirit Square this month. Silver Key winners will have their art exhibited at the Mint Museum of Art on Randolph Road through March. Silver winners were: Taylor Brower, Jessie Blackman, Nancy Garrett, Kathryn Holland, Alicia Ide and Kerchuan Soong.

Charlotte United Christian Academy

Yard sale: Second annual yard sale will be held 7 a.m.-noon March 10, Garr Church, 7640 Wallace Road, 28212. Proceeds will benefit the school and its ministries.

Community House Middle

Shakespeare competition: At the annual Shakespeare competition held at Wingate University Feb. 28, Troi Pryor placed third in the middle school division.

Covenant Day

Faculty Follies: Faculty Follies will be held 7:30 p.m. March 9 in the Middle School Gym. Tickets are on sale now. Prices are $5 per person with a maximum of $20 for families.

Shakespeare success: At the annual Shakespeare competition held at Wingate University Feb. 28, Katherine Murdock, a freshman, placed second in the high school division. She received a plaque and a $1,000 scholarship to Wingate University.

Jay M. Robinson Middle

Shakespeare success: At the annual Shakespeare competition held at Wingate University Feb. 28, Alexa Arciero placed first in the middle school division. Ryan Kapur placed second and honorable mentions were given to Aman Singh and Lauren Sims.

Providence High

Shakespeare winner: At the annual Shakespeare competition held at Wingate University Feb. 28, Brian Garcia placed first in the high school division. Brian won a trip to New York to compete in the National Shakespeare Competition held by the English-Speaking Union of the United States. He also received a $1,000 scholarship to Wingate University.
