While aiming for a hole-in-one this Labor Day weekend, golfers in Ballantyne also will be helping those serving the nation.
The Golf Club at Ballantyne will host Patriot Golf Day on Aug. 29-Sept. 2.
As golfers take to the greens, donations from their play will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, an organization that provides post-secondary education for children and spouses of military men and women killed or disabled while protecting the U.S., said Christina Thigpen, vice president of marketing and communications at Bissell Cos.
During the Patriot Golf Day event, which takes place nationwide, the club donates 100 percent of its range fees and the sale of pre-paid rounds to Folds of Honor, said Matt Zvanut, the club’s head golf professional.
The Golf Club at Ballantyne strives to raise $20,000 each year for Folds of Honor, which it has supported since 2010, Zvanut said.
Last year, the club raised $19,150.
“The annual Patriot Golf Day initiative provides a wonderful opportunity for golfers in our community to give back to those who have given everything,” Zvanut said.
The club works with the Carolinas Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America, Zvanut said.
During the Patriot Golf Day event:
• For $5, golfers will receive a complimentary bucket of range balls.
• For $35, golfers can play a complimentary weekday round of golf at the club, to be used Monday through Thursday.
• For $50, golfers will be able to enjoy a weekend round of golf.
