Ardrey Kell High

Alumni award: Laila Itani, 2014 graduate, has been awarded a $1,500 college scholarship from the Metrolina Phoenician Club. Itani is a student at Central Piedmont Community College. The Metrolina Phoenician Club is a nondenominational Lebanese Club that supports the local Lebanese community.

Butler High

Curriculum Night: The school will hold Curriculum Night on Sept. 16 from 5-7 p.m.


Cyber Saturday: A high school cyber Saturday will be Sept. 13 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Conference Center, 555 S. McDowell St. Details:

Charlotte Engineering Early College

Curriculum Night: CEEC will hold Curriculum Night 6-8 p.m. Sept. 18. Parents may follow their child’s schedule, meet teachers and receive curriculum information.

Providence Day

Player of the Week: Senior Ciera Cockrell has been named North Carolina MaxPreps/AVCA High School Player of the Week. During an 11-game stretch in August, Cockrell, who plays middle blocker, right-side and outside hitter, scored four aces, 22 digs and 53 kills.

Award: The school has been named an N.C. Family-Friendly 50 company for the 11th consecutive year. The list of 50 companies is compiled by Charlotte Parent, Carolina Parent and Piedmont Parent magazines.

Charlotte Latin

Alumni news: Brenton Bersin (2008) and Ross Cockrell (2009) have been selected to play football in the NFL. Bersin will play for the Carolina Panthers as a wide receiver; Cockrell will play for the Buffalo Bills as a cornerback.

Charlotte Catholic

Parent Night: The school will hold Parent Night 7 p.m. Sept. 10, beginning in your child’s homeroom. Parents may meet teachers.

Nick 5K: The 2nd Annual Team Nick 5K and Fun Run will be 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church at 5108 Kuykendall Road in Charlotte.

Nick Andrade, a 2012 Charlotte Catholic graduate, was paralyzed from the neck down in a 2012 accident. Team Nick organized the event to raise funds for Andrade’s medical costs. Details:
