Christian college fair: The fair will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Charlotte Christian School campus, 7301 Sardis Road.

More than 50 member colleges of the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professions will be represented. A financial aid workshop will be 7 p.m. Registration required: www.myblueprintstory.com.

Student board of directors: Carolina Premier Bank is accepting applications from sophomores, juniors and seniors to serve on a student board of directors for the current school year.

Selected students will attend monthly meetings and gain insight into the financial industry. Deadline to apply is Sept. 21. www.studentboardofdirectors.com.

Poetry workshops: Breatheink will hold poetry workshops for local students 1-4 p.m. every other Saturday at Spirit Square, 345 N. College St. in Charlotte. The next event will be Sept. 27.

STEM event: Students with disabilities in grades six through 12 are invited to attend a science, technology, engineering and math Career Showcase from 10 a.m. until noon Oct. 15 at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh.

Independent schools

College fair: The 2014 Charlotte Area Independent Schools College Fair for sophomores, juniors and seniors will be 1-4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Charlotte Convention Center, 501 S. College St. The event is hosted by Cannon School, Charlotte Catholic, Charlotte Christian, Charlotte Country Day, Charlotte Latin and Providence Day. Details: www.caiscollegefair.com.

Senior parents: The guidance department will hold a college information night 7 p.m. Sept. 17 in the chapel. Counselors will discuss the college application process and graduation issues.

New counselor: Carolyn Leonard has joined the school as a counselor. Leonard is a graduate of Ohio State University and Wake Forest University.

Covenant Day

Open house: The school will hold the following open house events: 9:30 a.m. Oct. 11 and 22 and 7 p.m. Oct. 23, transitional kindergarten through 12th grade.
