Steele Creek athletes compete in national track meets

Siblings Kayla Davis, a fifth-grader at River Gate Elementary, and Jesiah Davis, a sixth-grader at Southwest Middle, have competed in several USA Track and Field and AAU youth track national championships since 2011.

Most recently, Kayla Davis, age 10, won the girls’ 11-year-old 200-meter dash at the AAU Junior Olympics outdoor meet in Des Moines, Iowa, with a time of 25.87 seconds. She also won the 400-meter dash with a national record time of 57.07 seconds, and helped the TriCity Relays 4x100 relay team to a third-place finish (51.31).

At the same meet, Jesiah finished fifth in the 11-year-old 100-meter dash (12.83), seventh in the 200-meter dash (26.53) and helped the TriCity Relays 4x100 team to a third-place finish (50.6).

Kayla also takes gymnastics with Carolina Stars and Jesiah plays football with the Steele Creek Seahawks.
