Union West Rotary

Food for Families: Union West Rotary Club donated $2,500 to Food for Families at Food Lion in Indian Trail Oct. 14.

Food for Families is a nonprofit that has partnered with multiple schools in Union County to collect food to be sent home to families every Friday, ensuring they have food for the weekend. To learn about Union West Rotary, call Gary at 704-644-9967 or email gltucker@hotmail.com.

Community Blood Center

Puppies for Patients: The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas has launched its 10th annual Puppies for Patients program to take place during November and December.

Blood donors are encouraged to donate during the holiday season – one of the most difficult times for collections – and sign gift tags that will then be attached to stuffed puppies and delivered to local hospitalized children. Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte

Drivers needed: Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte is looking for drivers who can volunteer to drive older adults to the doctor, grocery store and other essential appointments. Friend of the Library

Clover book sale: Friends of the York County Library will hold a book sale 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 6-7 at the Clover Public Library, 107 Knox St., Clover, S.C. Hardcover and paperback fiction for adults and children’s paperbacks will be priced from 50 cents to $2. Proceeds will benefit the York County Libraries. To learn more, visit www.yclibrary.org.

Habitat for Humanity

Tastes of Habitat: Tastes of Habitat, a fundraising event for Habitat’s Women Build program, will feature Lake Norman’s finest chefs preparing special meals in order to raise money for safe, decent and affordable housing for females in the local community. The event will be held 6:30-9 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Mooresville. Tickets are $40 per person and available for purchase at www.ourtownshabitat.org. Volunteers are also needed.

The HeartBright Foundation

Soiree & Wine Auction: The HeartBright Foundation is hosting its annual Soiree & Wine Auction 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Bonterra Dining & Wine Room, 1829 Cleveland Ave.

Tickets are $500-$625 per person with a goal of raising money for foundation programs that promote cardiovascular wellness through prevention, awareness and partnerships. Levine Senior Center

Shopping from the Heart: The Matthews-based business JAJ Nonprofit Resource is partnering with the nonprofit Levine Senior Center to hold the second annual Shopping from the Heart expo 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Levine Senior Center, 1050 DeVore Lane, Matthews.

This shopping event is free admission with giveaways every 30 minutes. There will be up to 35 nonprofits setting up shop in the ballroom that will give shoppers a wish list of their needs. Participants can shop from the booths by purchasing items sold by groups as fundraisers, or by making a donation in honor of loved ones. Details: 704-560-9202 or email jajresource@gmail.com.

Beds for Kids

Turkey Dash: The Beds for Kids Turkey Dash will take place 8:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27, beginning at the parking lot of Village at Robinson Farms, on Williams Pond Road between Elm Lane and Rea Road.

There will be a one-mile and a 4-mile run to help raise money to provide beds for the thousands of Charlotte children. Registration starts at $35 before Nov. 8. Register or learn more at http://turkeydashcharlotte.com/race-info/. Learn more about Beds for Kids at www.bedsforkids.org.
