Cannon School

Spanish scholars: Students in grades nine-12 earned one gold medal, five silver medals and eight bronze medals in the National Spanish Exam, a competition sponsored in March by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The competitive exam measures student proficiency, vocabulary and grammatical skills. Cannon's highest-scoring student, Bruna Liborio of Concord, earned a gold medal for scoring at or above the 95th percentile nationally. Cannon School's other national-level award winners are: Silver Medal (85-94th percentile) - Olivia Andretti (Mooresville), Nila Kannan (the University City area), Katie Maness (Mooresville), Lydia Middleton (Harrisburg) and Gavin West (Charlotte); Bronze Medal (75-84th percentile) - Cassie Calvert (Concord), Shelby Dyl (Davidson), Ian Hicks (Huntersville), Dina Ibrahim (Concord), Stefan Letica (the University City area), Derek Pace (Midland), Austen Poteet (the University City area) and Tias Sen (the University City area).

Fraud Prevention and Detection - Online course: This is an online course; June 1-30. Studies on fraud awareness indicate organizations that conduct anti-fraud training for their employees show reductions in fraud losses. The focus of this course is on special areas of fraud awareness. UNC Charlotte Online Introduction to Computer Forensics: An overview of digital forensics to aid the student in understanding the process of data creation, recovery and analysis and the benefits of that knowledge during a forensic accounting engagement.
