Health screenings: Get a checkup from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Derita Presbyterian Church, 2230 W. Sugar Creek Road. The program will include services for pediatrics, hypertension, diabetes and nutrition/obesity. Cholesterol screenings will be available for $15.

Tree banding: Help control the cankerworm population by banding trees. Organizations can apply for a neighborhood matching grant of up to $3,000 from the city of Charlotte's Tree Banding Program to assist with banding trees, including those on private property.
