Matthews HELP Center

Pantry Items Needed: The Matthews HELP Center is in need of supplies.

The Matthews Branch Library and Matthews town hall, 230 Matthews Station St., will be a collection point to gather items including: Ziploc bags, fruit juices, pudding cups, cereal, boxed jello, cereal bars, powdered milk spaghetti, ramen noodles, crackers, cornmeal, instant grits, rice, and toiletries. Soldiers and Families

Golf Fundraiser: There will be a Soldiers and Families Golf Tournament 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sept. 26 at Pine Island Country Club, 1701 Stoneyridge Dr. Player fees are $108 and include green fee, cart, use of range and practice balls, sleeve of balls, gift bag, box lunch, beverages and a cookout after play. Healing Horses

Fun Day: The Carolina Country Store and "Fido, Sit!" are sponsoring the second annual fundraiser to benefit Healing Horses Rescue and Rehabilitation and Project HALO.

Blessed Assurance Adult Day Care

Annual Fundraiser: Blessed Assurance Adult Day Care is holding its fundraiser to help senior and disabled adults by expanding the facility by 5,000 square feet. YBM Leadership Alliance Evening of Excellence: Charlotte's Young Black Men Leadership Alliance will celebrate young black men at their second annual "Evening of Excellence" gala 6 p.m.-midnight Oct. 1 at Marriott Executive Park, 5700 Westpark Drive. Paws in the Panhandle

Yard Sale: Paws in the Panhandle will hold a yard sale the first Saturday of each month 8 a.m.-1 p.m. beginning Oct. 1 to benefit their rescue animals. Items will include furniture, TVs, Christmas items, animal products, exercise equipment, clothes, shoes, books and more. Animals for adoption will also be present. Down Syndrome Association

Buddy Walk: The Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte will hold its annual Buddy Walk 2-6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Freedom Park.

Teen Health Connection

Advisory Board Applications: Teen Health Connection is re-launching the Teen Advisory Board (TAB), designed to fulfill many roles including consultation on THC initiatives, outreach efforts, special development and community service projects. Anuvia Award Luncheon: Libby Safrit, executive director of Teen Health Connection, will be recognized for outstanding contributions to preventing and treating alcohol and drug abuse at this year's Anuvia Awards Luncheon. Safrit will be given The Martha Bedell Alexander Award, which recognizes excellence in leadership and service in advocating for person- and family-centered substance-abuse prevention and treatment.

Tickled Pink for Breast Cancer

Comedy Show Fundraiser: Tickets are on sale for Carolinas Medical Cener-Union's annual Tickled Pink for Breast Cancer, 6-9 p.m. Oct. 15 at Rolling Hills Country Club, 2722 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe.

Tickets are $40 each with proceeds benefiting the Edwards Cancer Center at CMC-Union to help uninsured and underserved women fighting breast cancer in Union County.
