Open House: Piedmont Progressive Preschool, 9704 Mallard Creek Road, will host open-house sessions from 10 a.m. to noon March 12, 13 and 16.

Transportation and biofuels: Register now for the UNC Charlotte's second annual BioEnergy Symposium March 13-14 in the Student Union building, 9201 University City Blvd.

It's a forum for community education and dialogue about transportation biofuels. The keynote presenter will be Paolo Carollo, owner of Wilmington-based Chem Tech International, which provides engineering, procurement and construction management services.
