New Works: Angie Renfro & Julie Covington:
Renfro's paintings capture the beauty of everyday objects and landscapes. The sense of nostalgia in her work is countered by her contemporary style - bold strokes are deliberately blurred, bright colors create tension in an otherwise muted palette, and paired down compositions. Covington's high-fired pots are influenced by her experience with other cultures, with surfaces that are decorated with a wax resist technique, with designs that range from vines to more primitive imagery. 11 a.m. March 12-17 and 18-21. Free. Lark & Key Gallery and Boutique (Southend), 128 E. Park Ave., Charlotte. 704-334-4616. www.larkandkey.com.
