Mallard Creek High School junior wrestler Waddell McNeely is ranked among the top 10 in the state in his weight class in the first poll issued by retrorankings.com, a noted North Carolina high school wrestling website.

Among 4A division schools, McNeely is ranked seventh at 160 pounds in the retrorankings.com poll, which came out Dec. 17. Taveon Hoskins of Winston-Salem’s Parkland High is ranked No. 1.

Through the 2013 portion of this season’s schedule, McNeely is 29-3, two of those losses having come against Lake Norman’s Eddie McGrail, a third-place finisher at 145 pounds in last year’s 4A state tournament, who’s ranked No. 2 in the state at 160 pounds.

McNeely’s other loss came against Alexander Central’s Tyler Reese. Bill Kiser
