Mallard Creek High School junior wrestler Waddell McNeely is ranked among the top 10 in the state in his weight class in the first poll issued by, a noted North Carolina high school wrestling website.

Among 4A division schools, McNeely is ranked seventh at 160 pounds in the poll, which came out Dec. 17. Taveon Hoskins of Winston-Salem’s Parkland High is ranked No. 1.

Through the 2013 portion of this season’s schedule, McNeely is 29-3, two of those losses having come against Lake Norman’s Eddie McGrail, a third-place finisher at 145 pounds in last year’s 4A state tournament, who’s ranked No. 2 in the state at 160 pounds.
