Three athletes on UNC Charlotte’s indoor track and field teams set records during the opening day of the Virginia Tech Invitational indoor meet Jan. 17 in Blacksburg, Va.
Anthony Bynum broke the 49ers record in winning the men’s 300-meter dash in 33.06 seconds, bettering the Charlotte record of 33.28 set by All-American Darius Law.
Kevin Calhoun vaulted 15 feet, 11 inches in the men’s pole vault, tying the school record set by Robert Wilson.
Katrina Wright broke her own school record in the women’s 20-pound weight throw, hurling 56-4.5 to beat her previous 55-5.75.
“We had a very strong day for our second meet of the season, with some impressive development already for a number of athletes’ performances from just one week ago,” 49ers coach Robert Olesen said. Charlotte Sports Information
