Neighborhood grant: The deadline is April 25 to apply for Keep Charlotte Beautiful grants for beautification projects up to $5,000 in Charlotte neighborhoods. Any neighborhood, homeowner association, nonprofit or school in Charlotte is eligible. One grant up to $5,000 is be awarded each year. SAT prep course: McCullough’s Active Mentoring Services of Concord offers a five-week course for home-schooled eighth- through 12th-graders on Thursdays, April 24-May 22, at Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2324 Sam Wilson Road, Charlotte. The course will cover vocabulary development, reading comprehension and effective writing and math, as well as scholarships, mentors, leadership skills, home-school community networking, study skills, tutoring and more.
