A Union County man was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday for what prosecutors called the execution-style killing of his wife, a mother of two.

After nearly two weeks of testimony and evidence, a jury found Reginald Leon Allen, 40, guilty of first-degree murder in the 2014 fatal shooting of his wife, Alicia Sligh.

Sligh was shot in her head after Allen forced her to drive from their home on East Union Street in Marshville. Sligh was found dead in the car about a mile from the home.

“Alicia Sligh’s death is a brutal wake-up call about the continuing danger of domestic violence in our community,” District Attorney Trey Robison said. “She was the ultimate victim of domestic violence, dying at the hands of her husband, someone she loved.

“Prosecuting domestic violence assaults and intervening in the cycle of domestic abuse is and always has been a priority for my office.”
