Police said they twice deployed Tasers before subduing a 17-year-old Garinger High student accused of assaulting his 16-year-old girlfriend and then police at the Sugar Creek parking lot entrance to the campus on Monday.
Jamari Heddrick White was charged with two counts of assault on a government official and one count each of simple assault and resisting a public officer. He was taken to the Mecklenburg County jail after his release from Carolinas Medical Center. Per protocol, Medic took White to the hospital as a precaution after police used the Tasers on him, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.

Two CMPD school resource officers at Garinger High were assaulted after responding to the assault on White’s girlfriend, according to CMPD.
The officers immediately tried to remove the girlfriend to safety, but the suspect kept hitting them and the girlfriend, CMPD said. One of the officers deployed her Taser, but the assault continued, according to CMPD. The second officer then deployed his Taser to restrain the suspect.
