Police in Oakland, Calif., are discounting a link between murder suspect Robert Durst and the 1997 disappearance of Charlotte teen Kristen Modafferi.

Oakland police said they and the FBI have found no evidence that Durst was involved in the disappearance.

Modafferi vanished during a summer stay in San Francisco.

“The investigation was open and active for several years,” according to a statement from the Oakland police. “At this time, we do not have any evidence that indicates Robert Durst was involved in her disappearance.”
