North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a report of three loud noises in woods between that school and Blythe Elementary School, Huntersville police Capt. Scott Sharp said.
The lockdown was prompted by what a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokesman said was a report of shots fired in the area, but Sharp said later the report was of three loud noises. Police found no one in the woods or anything to indicate what the noises were, Sharp said.
The lockdown began at 6:40 a.m. and was lifted at 7:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokesman Brian Hacker said.
