A spokeswoman for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association confirmed Wednesday night that the Charlotte-based ministry has received “potential threats” over the internet.
“The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association can confirm that it has communicated with law enforcement regarding comments received via the internet containing potential threats to a third party,” according to a statement the spokeswoman provided from the association.
The statement does not identify the third party.
“As this is an ongoing investigation, we defer any additional comments to law enforcement and appreciate their attention to the matter,” the statement said.
WSOC-TV reported obtaining a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police report about the threats. The association notified police on Tuesday, the station reported, although the potential threats have been made at least eight times since April 1.
The police report does not specify the potential threats made over the internet, according to the station.
