2 south Charlotte carjacking suspects lead police on 10-mile chase

Two suspects stole a woman’s car at gunpoint on Sharon Road West in south Charlotte on Wednesday and led police on a roughly 10-mile chase before surrendering.

The suspects carjacked the woman at about 4:20 p.m. near where Sharon Road West intersects with South Boulevard, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.

Officers spotted the woman’s gray Toyota Solara on South Boulevard and tried to stop it, but the carjackers kept on going, police said. The suspects jumped and ran on Alleghany Street in west Charlotte, but police quickly caught up with them and arrested them without further incident.

Police were interviewing the suspects later Wednesday and have yet to announce charges.

No one appears to have been injured during the carjacking and pursuit, police said
