Man killed in west Charlotte bar owned the establishment

A man killed at the Tropical Bar & Restaurant in west Charlotte late Saturday owned the establishment, Observer news partner WBTV reported on Monday.

Police found Nelson Bismar Sosa, 41, with a gunshot wound in the Tuckaseegee Road bar shortly before 11 p.m. He was pronounced dead at Carolinas Medical Center.

Police believe Sosa and the shooter knew each other but have yet to name or arrest a suspect.

Sosa was the city’s 47th homicide victim of the year. Seventeen of this year’s homicides have yet to be solved.

At this time in 2016, Charlotte had 22 homicides.
