Police had no trouble identifying a man suspected of driving off in a $71,000 Corvette from Parks Chevrolet on North Tryon Street on Monday.

The man had to show his identification to the dealer before receiving the keys to the car, Observer news partner WBTV reported, but then he jumped in the car and took off on his own.

The dealer called Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, who tracked the car using OnStar, WBTV reported.

The suspect drove off in the gray two-door Corvette at 11:10 a.m., according to a police report.

Police soon found the car at Columbus Circle Grocery on Berryhill Road in west Charlotte and arrested the driver on nearby Freedom Drive after running after him.

Domanique Rashan Mobley, 28, of Charlotte was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, felony larceny and resisting a public officer, jail records show. He was given a $12,500 bail.

Mobley has been convicted of driving while impaired, misdemeanor breaking and entering, felony flee to elude arrest and driving while license revoked, court records show. He has a pending trial on a charge of misdemeanor assault on a government official from July 2016.
